Posting from Dell Axim X51V
« on: November 30, 2007, 09:22:05 pm »
Just a quick hello from an Axim. There has been one sitting in the drawer for many months and no one at work remembers why we ordered it. So I said to hell with it and fired it up. It will be interesting to play with. Very easy to set up.

Got it! I had to snag two dll's also, Phone.dll and Sims.dll. It is very cool but a bit slow loading. Posting from it now.

Yup. I turned off all the appearance settings and it hopped to much better. Thanks for the heads-up on the browser. This is actually very cool indeed.

Ok, this unit is getting to be a cool tool. I went to this page to get the info on the two dll's I needed.

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/applications/220930-opera-mini-4-new-star-born-free-web-browser-you-must-give-try.html

I spent a good part of last night surfing the web with Opera Mini. It is in fact very responsive (after I disabled some of the "appearance settings) and reading is very easy. I also loaded ereader last night so I can read my digital books from ereader.com. Currently reading Bill Clinton's "My Life". There are a ton of things I still need to learn and explore. Lots of info at the site listed above.

Yup. I am running A06 for ROM. I tried to get A12 on it but it would not load. I still need to play with that. I loaded the gmail applet while I was helping upgrade the hospital network tonight. It worked swift with java thing you hooked me up with.

Very cool.

I guess the Opera Mini browser for the Pocket PC is better than the one they put together for the DS. WAY SLOW on the DS - always, but at least I can hit Taco Bell and look at the BBC Semi-Text-Only - the best small site for in depth news that I have found (so far).
Take care,
Weave

@Weave I am sure it is a lot faster. I also have loaded Opera Mobile 8.6.5 and Mini kicks her out of the water BUT it is faster then PIE and works a whole lot better. It even has tabs. That one is not free though ;)

Sadly, I still have to revert back to PIE sometimes. Mainly for watching Youtube vides :(

Pulled out the Axim the other day. We just got our Exchange server up and running so I wanted to see if I could synch with Windows Mobile. No go so I started to look for Moble 6.1 versions. Started with LennyAO7 but the wireless was way flakey. Then tried FootballAO7 and so far it is flawless. Took a bit to find the esmertec jbed again as most servers have backed out of offering (thank god for the russians though).

Anyhow, I'm posting with Opera Mini.
