Computing / Re:VNC

i gots a question.  i want to access my home PC and its files and programs from work, but i have no way of accepting a "takeover" from here.  would vnc work for that so i can "theoretically" play my games from work, or at least set them in action?  or would i need something else?  and what would i need to set up where (which pc needs which software)?  the remote control they have here at work wouldnt be bad, but i dont have (or want) netware on my PC at home.

hey sal, im thinking bout getting an axim when my income tax rolls in, the one with integrated wireless.  got a question though, does the card slot allow for more memory and allow programs to be installed on the card?  How much integrated memory is on it and useable?  What accessories would you recommend getting at the time of purchase?  Lemme know, im seriously thinking about getting one.  would be very useful if i get a job up here or go back to school, or both  :frosty:

actually, tony v productions has signed me on for a sequel, however at this time, filming location and release date are up in the air.  i was thinking cameos of past interns would be pretty cool, but you know how producers are  :furious3:

Yatta Yatta Yatta / Job interview
« on: March 08, 2004, 12:31:13 pm »
well i got  a job interview finally.  its at applied materials where albert works, not exactly what i had wanted to do, but no one else has returned calls for my resume.  i got about 9 apps out floating around right now.  i would have waited to finish out the semester but all i have been doing is moving computers and installing software.  i feel like in back in semester one of the internship here.  im not getting the troubleshooting experience i was after, nor the networking skills im gonna need for future jobs.  so if they ask me to start working for them, im gonna say yes and keep on sending the resumes and applications until i hear of something better.  good luck on that valley diagnostics job sal !

see, i just found this cause a buddy of mine is trying to share his network with a friend two houses down.  the friend is gonna pay him for usage to help with the cable bill.  the reverse end is just as nice though.  if i ever get a wireless pcmcia card for my laptop i am definitely gonna have to make one of these.  only problem that tony and i saw... how the hell do you hook the empty end of the pigtail to the card or router?

know anyone with a wireless networking connection but you are either too far away or you just cant get a strong and steady signal?  well never fear!  your answer is just a hardware and electronics store away.  check out these sites.  the first sells you the whole package for $50 but if you make it yourself from the second two sites you can do it for half that.

really useful if you have a laptop with a wireless card, or say a POCKET PC with wireless access.  if you make one, or have one lemme know how it holds up :)

Computing / IE problem
« on: February 07, 2004, 09:47:28 pm »
aight i got a problem with internet explorer.  i had managed to lose my copy of mcafee internet security and spyware wormed its way on my PC and changed some IE registry settings.  i fixed most of em but now i have a really annoying problem.  whenever i type in a site in the address bar IE freaks out and thinks it needs to search for it using this standard:  for example im typing www.digisal.com into the bar, IE starts looking for http://ehttp.cc/?www.digisal.com
ive looked in all the registry settings for IE but cant seem to find where this would be getting its info.  any help would be greatly appreciated, the annoyance factor is a high 9 on this.

i believe that IBM is behind the commercials because it is the first major PC/Server producer to push out products with Linux operating systems.  basically imagine compaq making nothing but linux machines...  scary  :anxious:
